FreeChat for Facebook Messenger App Reviews

114 Customer Reviews:

Convenient little wrapper-app of Facebook’s messenger.com interface, which Facebook’s login notification recognizes as Safari, with a modest handful of missing elements and buggy behavior—at least on my Yosemite-running iMac—which I will note here: • Messengers options for cam & audio calling are absent. • Right-clicking text in the input field—in order to spell-correct, for example—does not open the “Ignore spelling, Learn spelling, Cut, Copy, Paste…” dropdown menu that it should. • Trying to place emojis with Mac’s native emoji popup doesn’t work. Selecting the emoji places it in the text input field, only to immediately disappear afterwards. All in all, it’s convenient and fits the Messenger brand, and it’s nice to have it liberated from my browser tabs. This app IS free, so in light of that fact, my minor quibbles above aren’t necessarily expected to be corrected.

Nice

Just downloaded, looks nice. Happy that developer is active pushing out new updates.

As a student, facebook’s platform allows too much room for procrastination with endless Tasty food videos. This messenger extension for the computer that allows you to chat with fellow classmates is very useful. I just downloaded it, and it seems like there are no flaws! I love how similar it looks to messenger.

Works perfectly

And its fast, shows notifications, and has a notification badge. The only thing missing is Retina support (for images).

Does what it says it’ll do, just a bit more convenient that the chat in the browser window. This app lets me focus on other things while still keeping an eye on current conversations. Though I’m still missing the earlier Facebook integration into Messages, this was the ultimate convenience – until Facbook broke that integration.

Good experience in general. 2 misses which are unclear: there is a minimum width restriction which is still pretty wide. Why?! And when using that minimum size, the text box to input text is really tall, also unclear why. But all in all it serves me well. Love the dark theme.

For some reason my friends and family insist on messaging me through Facebook. This messenger makes it possible to communicate with friends and family without getting distracted. It works well and it’s free so I’m happy.

I think it is a very useful app because I got many friends and when I am not on my phone but on my laptop, I can’t check if my friends have sent me a message. By this app, now I can know when my friends have send me a message and reply quickly lol

I’ve only been using it one day, but love it so far! Works great on my MacBook Air and also on my Mac Pro (desktop)! I highly recommend! Use on your Apple MacBook or iMac or Mac Pro (desktop) computers! I love it! Works great, uses the built-in Apple spell-check and allows you to message all your friends and family from your computer! . . . and it’s FREE!

I do not have to leave my FB page up to use it which can be distracting while at work. So far it’s been a great tool to keep in touch with my famiy and friends while I am at work as I may have my phone ring tone down.

Using the same account and password that chrome uses to log in does not work with this app. Would not quit: Here’s how to kill it. $ ps -ef | grep -in chat 328: 501 86337 1 0 1:28PM ?? 4:41.63 /Applications/FreeChat for Facebook Messenger.app/Contents/MacOS/FreeChat for Facebook Messenger $ kill -9 86337 $ sudo rm -r /Applications/FreeChat for Facebook Messenger.app/
