FreeChat for Facebook Messenger App Reviews

As the title says, overall this is exactly what I am looking for. Theres a minor issue where when the icon that shows the person you are messaging shows up, normally it would be 3 horiontal dots. However, in the current version, the 3rd dot appears on the next line outside of the gray bubble, other than that, great!

Works well and I like how it can be scaled down into a minimalistic chat interface so it dosen’t take a lot of room on the screen.

I need to use Facebook Messenger personally and for work, but find facebook’s website very distracting (which is how it is designed, so I waste time there). This program works great, allows me to use messenger without any of the distractions facebook provides. Very glad to have found it.

The application is about to be perfect - the only thing I would love to see in this app is possibility to use Emoji emoticons. When this one will be implemented - I will rate is with 5 stars for sure!

So far, so good after using FreeChat For Facebook Messenger for about a week. My previous app, Facebopok MessengerPro, seemed to break down over sending photos. To be candid, I have not yet tried that functionality on FreeChat. If it works, I’m raising my rating from four stars to five stars. Confidence is high!

Freechat for Facebook Messenger really facilitates how I use Facebook Messenger while on my MacBook. It’s really reliable and energy-efficient because it doesn’t use nearly as much memory and battery life as the browser version does on Facebook’s official website. At the same time, I appreciate how similar the app’s features are to the iPhone app, but with that comes the one flaw I hope will be addressed in a future update. I love to use emojis and symbols in my text, but whenever I use the Control + Command to bring up the emoji dialog, none of my emojis appear as I type, which means I have to resort to the old copy-and-paste from outside sources, which is pretty ridiculous in my opinion. Even if I use the Edit menu and navigate to Emoji & Symbols, none of the emojis I press appear as I type. If I’m lucky, once in a while the emoji stays, but most of the time, the emoji will appear for 1 second and disappear. The default list of emojis shown when clicking the bottom happy-face icon are just insufficient in expressing myself via emoji, which is why I would appreciate if this bug were fixed in a future update. Other than that, I am very pleased with how the app works and allows me to interact with my Facebook friends individually and in groups via Messenger.

Great app, works just like as if I had facebook open. My only issue is that even after disbling sounds in the preferences menu, it still plays the notification sound. This is horrible when you’re listening to music/watching a movie. or need to keep the volume low

It’s a good app to have if you don’t feel like logging in browser. There are still some essential functions missing e.g Archive chat. Other folder etc.

Many, many thanks for developing this app! I really don’t like how it isn’t as easy to send a video clip through facebook on your computer’s web browser as it is in the Messenger app. Not sure when they make it an “attatchment” when uploading it on a web browser. Anyways, any time I want to share a video, I have to send my video to my phone, andn then upload it with Messenger. This gets rid of that middle man process, so thank you very much! -Ken Jones, OKC, OK

I agree with other users, I really love this app— but the sound bug is so annoying. I tried to disable it in preferences, but it still plays the tri tone sound when a new message comes in. I’m in a lot of group messages and often there’s quick conversation. This makes using the app untenable, since the sound playing every time is so irritating. Please fix this!

I used to use web based FB messenger on Safari. This app gives me a good chance to have conversations with my friends as this app looks handy and separately run from Safari. I like it. Furthermore it’s free. Awesome!

Just downloaded this app and have to say it works pretty good. Was having issues with the main Facebook Messenger but this one took care of my needs.
